I definitely don’t want to go if you don’t feel comfortable. That being said, I think that is just an outdated perception. Also, there is that article from NYTimes, I can’t imagine that they would highlight the city as a great place.

Don't go to Colombia! Last year when I was offered a trip to Bogota, Korbs told me he would really miss me as a friend, and he cut and pasted this:
"The Department of State warns U.S. citizens of the dangers of travel to Colombia. Violence by narcoterrorist groups and other criminals continues to affect all parts of the country, urban and rural.

But I'm Asian! I said. Not only that, I'm not notable! Surely they have no use for an Asian girl of no notability. And then he pasted this:

Needless to say, I didn't go. Sigh. And now I'm glad that Pasy totally dinged it. Having gone to Columbia should really be enough for us. And if you really need to visit a Colombia, come visit me at The Columbia. Ok? Ok.
